TROY – Troy University officials have announced an administrative reorganization aimed at increasing the University's commitment to entrepreneurship as well as enhancing the University’s support for military students and their families.

Dr. Skip Ames, currently Vice Chancellor for the Dothan Campus, has been named Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation.

"Dr. Skip Ames helped bring the Center concept to fruition in 2014. The further development of the Center now needs his leadership full time. The Center will provide important resources to enhance economic growth throughout the University's service area," said Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr., Chancellor.

Headquartered on the Dothan Campus, TROY's Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation provides an academic home for students along with outreach and economic development assistance to the region. Multi-disciplined in nature, the Center's mission supports entrepreneurship not only in the business field, but in the fields of arts and sciences, communication and fine arts, and education. The Center will influence the curriculum throughout all campuses of Troy University and it will anchor the University's soon-to-be-constructed Coleman Hall.

Dr. Don Jeffrey has been named Vice Chancellor for the Dothan Campus. The move marks a return to Dothan Campus leadership for Dr. Jeffrey, who left the position in 2014 to lead the University's Global Campus.

In addition, Dr. Jeffrey will serve in the newly created position of Vice Chancellor for Military Affairs. The position will provide additional leadership and support for the University's ongoing mission of serving active duty military members, their families and veterans.

"Dr. Jeffrey’s experiences across a wide academic spectrum, combined with his expertise in military affairs, is highly reflective of Troy University's commitment to the military and to the Wiregrass," said Dr. Hawkins. “Troy University's long history of service to the military began at Ft. Rucker, so it is very meaningful that Dr. Jeffrey will lead TROY's outreach to the military and veterans from the Dothan Campus."
