Dr. Larry Blocher is Dean of Troy University's College of Communication and Fine Arts and has served as director of the John M. Long School of Music since 2005.
He earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree at Florida State University and completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education at Morehead State University. Prior to joining the TROY faculty, he was a professor of music, associate director of the school of music and director of music education at Wichita State University.
Under his tenure at the Long School, music major enrollment has doubled and the school has been reaccredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. A new John M. Long Hall has been built, new faculty positions created and more comprehensive curriculum developed. Among new music programs that have been launched during his tenure is the innovative Music Industry Program that gives its majors experience in music production, marketing and business endeavors.
