TROY Continuing Education Center to offer free financial workshops

DOTHAN—The Continuing Education Center at Troy University’s Dothan Campus will offer a series of free workshops covering financial planning and advice starting this month.

The workshop “Roll It, Leave, It, Move It: Know Your Employer Retirement Plan Options” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and again on March 3 at the same time. The class will discuss how to handle a 401(k), pension or other employer-sponsored retirement plan after leaving a job.

The “Outlook and Opportunities Seminar” will be held on Feb. 3 and on March 17 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The workshop covers what clients and prospects need to know about inflation in the coming year and how to best prepare for what lies ahead.

“Back on Track: Develop Your Financial Recovery Plan” will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3, and again on April 14 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will learn how to evaluate their current financial situation and long-term financial goals, savings and spending needs, comfort level with risk and how to benefit from tax-advantaged investments.

The workshops will be taught by financial advisor Ron Sommer. All sessions are free and open to the public.
