Wallace Community College president to address TROY Dothan Campus graduates

DOTHAN—Dr. Linda C. Young, president of Wallace Community College, will deliver the keynote address to graduates during Spring Commencement at Troy University’s Dothan Campus on Sunday, May 16.

The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. inside the Dothan Civic Center. More than 160 graduate and undergraduate degrees will be conferred.

Dr. Young became the first woman to head a technical college in Alabama in 1988 when she was appointed president of Sparks State Technical College in Eufaula. In 1991, Sparks was merged with Wallace Community College and Dr. Young assumed the presidency of the merged institution.

She has held prior teaching and administrative positions at Enterprise State Junior College, the Department of Postsecondary Education and Lurleen B. Wallace Junior College in Andalusia.

Dr. Young holds an associate degree from Enterprise State Junior College, bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Troy University and a doctorate from Auburn University. She has served in a variety of civic and professional organizations, including the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dothan Rotary Club.
