TROY, Ala.—Dr. Earl Ingram has been named to serve as interim Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs by Chancellor Jack Hawkins Jr.
The appointment was effective Sept. 3 following the resignation of Dr. Ed Roach, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor.
“Dr. Ingram’s vast experience both as an administrator and as a faculty member gives him a unique combination of experience and ability to provide outstanding leadership in academics during this time of transition,” Dr. Hawkins said.
Dr. Ingram has served as vice chancellor of Global Campus since 2006 and was dean of the Sorrell College of Business from 2004-2006. A professor of management, he joined the TROY faculty in 1987 and, in 1991, was assigned director for then-TSU-Europe. He is a professor of management.
Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Ingram was reared in a military family, living in several states, Japan and Germany. After attending the University of New Mexico, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving six years of active duty that included a tour of duty as a pilot and officer in an attack helicopter battalion in Vietnam. After leaving active duty, he completed a bachelor of science degree in management, a master of science in psychology and a doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology, all at Auburn University.
He was employed by West Point Pepperell, then a Fortune-200 company, for 12 years, six of which included the post of director for human resources planning, research and development.
From 1972 until 1991, Dr. Ingram served in the Alabama National Guard, serving in aviation units and commanding a transportation battalion, retiring at the rank of colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve.
He will continue to oversee the operations of Global Campus.
