Classic musical “Oklahoma!” coming to TROY’s Davis Theatre

TROY—Winner of numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize, “Oklahoma!” is the classic American musical that launched the songwriting collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.

Set in turn-of-the-century Oklahoma, amidst the high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys, “Oklahoma!” is the cherished love story of Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl. The musical features such favorite songs as “People Will Say We’re in Love,” “Oh What A Beautiful Mornin’,” and “Surrey With Fringe On Top.”

The show has a 7 p.m. curtain time.

Tickets for the performance range from $20 to $45. Tickets can be purchased at the theatre office located at 251 Montgomery Street or by calling 334-241-9567. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon.

The Davis Theatre’s 2010-2011 season will continue on Jan. 20 with the Elvis-themed musical “All Shook Up.”
