TROY—The Troy University Symphony Band will honor veterans of the nation’s armed forces on Monday with its annual “Salute to Veterans concert.

The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, in Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus and will feature a number of patriotic favorites, including “Duty, Honor, Country,” “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” conducted by Director of Bands Emeritus Dr. Johnny Long, and a patriotic sing-along. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

The Symphony Band will also perform a special commissioned piece, composed by world renowned composer Stephen Melillo, who, in addition to film work with New York and Los Angeles-based studio orchestras, has conducted more than 112 live concert premieres. “Despite All Else,” was commissioned in honor of Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy University, and was premiered last week during the band’s “Salute to Veterans” performance at the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts in Montgomery.
