MONTGOMERY—Alabama Public Service Commissioner Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates during the fall commencement ceremony for the Montgomery Campus on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
About 214 students will receive undergraduate and graduate degrees during ceremony. The event starts at 7 p.m. inside the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Cavanaugh was elected to the Public Service Commission in November 2010. Active in public service for many years, she served as a senior advisor during Gov. Bob Riley's second term and was Deputy Chief of Staff during Riley's first term.
She has worked with the Republican National Committee in Washington, D.C., and served as the Executive Director of the Alabama Republican Party. In 2005, she was elected Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, the first woman to hold the position.
A graduate of Auburn University, Cavanaugh and her husband, Dr. Jeff Cavanaugh, own Cavanaugh Bradley Animal Hospital. They are members of First Baptist Church in Montgomery and have three children..
