TROY – Troy University's Department of Theatre and Dance kicks off its spring season with "The Importance of Being Earnest."

"A serious comedy for trivial people," the play satirizes Victorian manners and customs in a light, effervescent style that is absolutely unforgettable, said Adena Moree, chair of the department.

The plays opens tonight in the Upstairs Theatre Studio in Malone Hall on the Troy Campus. Performances are slated for Jan. 19, 20, 21, and the 25-28. Show time for each performance is 7:30 p.m.

Seating is limited and all tickets are $5. Students with valid ID are admitted free. Seats not claimed by 7:25 p.m. may be resold. Tickets may be purchased online at www.troytheatre.org, or from the Trojan Center Box Office from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday by calling 334-670-6477.
