TROY – Troy University's John M. Long School of Music will present its annual Choral Showcase Concert on Tuesday, March 27 at First Baptist Church in Troy.

Admission to the performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public, and features the Collegiate Singers, Concert Choral and frequency. The concert is directed by Director of University Choirs Dr. Diane Orlofsky and Laura Aaron Mixon, a lecturer of choral music and TROY alumna.

Among the highlights of the concert will be the premier of two works, and the dedication of one piece to a long-time high school Spanish teacher.

"Laura Mixon and I enjoy selecting a diverse program of choral literature for the showcase concert and this evening is no exception," said Dr. Orlofsky. "It is a rare treat for an audience when they are able to hear selections by Copeland, Hindemith, Whitacre; contemporary favorites like Randall Stroope, Giselle Wyers and Eric Barnum, unique settings of traditional pieces, and premiers all in the same night."

Premiering at the concert will be pieces by Long School faculty member Dr. Traci Mendel and Music Industry graduate student Xavier Roberson. In recognition of her 35 years of teaching Spanish to young people, "Él Amor de mi Alma" will be dedicated to Pamela Merkel, currently in her 28th year of teaching at Troy's Charles Henderson High School.
