TROY - Troy University's vocal jazz ensemble, frequency, will present a free concert at 7 p.m. on March 20 at The Studio, 300 E. Walnut St. in downtown Troy.
TROY's ensemble will be joined by the Wallace Singers of Wallace Community College in Dothan to present an evening of fast-paced vocal jazz and contemporary a cappella vocal arrangements.
Both auditioned groups have 16 singers and vocal percussionists, while frequency is joined by a small instrumental combo on several musical numbers.
"frequency has a long history supporting the Troy-Pike Cultural Arts Center, most recently performing at the opening of the Roots: Late Artists of Pike County art exhibit in November," said Dr. Diane Orlofsky, Director of Choirs and Professor of Music in TROY's John M. Long School of Music. The 'LIVE AT THE STUDIO' events both in Troy and at Studio 116 in Brundidge have also become staples of the spring performance season. The Wallace Singers boast a similar connection with their Dothan community, and the two programs are delighted to be involved in this collaborative musical project."
