Operations Flight Commander Biography


Captain StraynCaptain John D. Strayn is the Operation Flight Commander and the Assistant Professor of Aero Space studies for the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 017 at Troy University, Troy, Alabama.

Captain Strayn is an Aviator rated in Rotor wing and Fixed wing aircraft for the United States Military. He has had a diverse career starting off as an enlisted member serving in the United States Navy. He then entered into the United States Army serving as a Warrant Officer; where he worked as a Tactical Operations Officer and Instructor Pilot in the UH-60/Blackhawk Helicopter. Captain Strayn then entered into the Air Force Reserve where he became an Aircraft commander in the C-130/H2 (Hercules) at Maxwell Air Force Base.
