
CPT Joseph Johnson APMS/NG Liaison Officer |
CPT Joseph M. Johnson, a native of Brundidge, Alabama, joined the Army National Guard in 1998. He attended Troy University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and was commissioned through Army ROTC on 6 May 2006 as a Field Artillery Second Lieutenant. Upon completion of Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, OK, he was assigned to 1/117th FA as a Platoon Leader.
In January 2008,CPT Johnson was selected to serve as the Fire Direction Officer for C Battery, 1/117th FA for the fielding and Battalion Qualification of the M198 155MM Towed Howitzer. Following Annual Training, May 2009, CPT Johnson was promoted to Executive Officer for C Battery. While serving as Executive Officer, C Battery successfully transitioned to and certified on the M777A2 155mm Lightweight Howitzer. CPT Johnson is currently serving as the Operations Officer for 1/117th FA Battalion and Assistant Professor of Military Science/Alabama Army National Guard Technician at Troy University Army ROTC, Troy, Alabama.
CPT Johnson’s awards and Decorations include: Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device and Bronze Hour Glass, and United States Army Service Ribbon among other State awards.
CPT Johnson is married to the former Stephanie Jackson and has two children: Twins, Clay and Cooper who are 2 years old.
