Mission Statement

TROY University (TU) is an international university that plays a high value and an important role on its worldwide reach and impact. TU strives to provide every student an international experience, and a network of partnerships with universities and other entities around the world.

The Center of International Languages and Cultures (CILC) within the structure of TU is one of its arms to realize TU’s mission, specifically, the mission of the Center of International Languages and Cultures is to:

Provide general education courses that develop languages and cultures and critical thinking skills

Promote awareness of international contexts, influences and applications, and sensitivity to cross-cultural and diversity issues

Offer all kinds of programs that enable students to effectively use their language skills, knowledge, and cultures and aesthetic awareness in teaching and any other career they may choose

Promote global awareness through curricular, co-curricular, and international opportunities—language organizations, study abroad, international scholars, etc.

Serve as a center resource on Chinese, Korean, Japanese and English as a Second Language (ESL), and other languages and cultures

Acquire and implement appropriate technology for foreign language learning and acquisition

Develop and implement an assessment system that documents the competencies of students and provides developmental feedback to the student and teacher
