Confucius Classrooms/Sites

Confucius Classrooms/sites are centers for Chinese culture and language granted to K-12 schools and mentored by Confucius Institutes. Schools can establish Confucius Classrooms by applying for funding from Hanban for this specific purpose and by agreeing to sustain a Chinese language and culture program. These programs can range from grades K-5, 6-8, 9-12, or any combination.

The Confucius Institute at Troy University has 9 active Confucius Classrooms:

 

A public magnet school in Montgomery, Alabama. It has 582 students in grades 6-8. According to state standards, 97% of students at this school are considered proficient in math and reading. Baldwin Magnet houses two separate magnet schools--Baldwin Arts and Baldwin Academics.

A middle school that serves grades seven and eight.  The school is located in Troy, Alabama.  Currently, Charles Henderson Middle School houses approximately 350 students.  There are close to 40 faculty and staff members that are employed at the school.

Built in the 1920's, with twelve classrooms. Annually there are approximately 750 students in grades K-5.  In 2014, Forest Avenue Elementary School ranked better than 99.7% of elementary schools in Alabama. It also ranked first among 30 ranked elementary schools in the Montgomery County School District.

Indian Springs School is a private school that includes grades eight through twelve with both boarding and day students. It is at the base of Oak Mountain, in Indian Springs Village, Shelby County, Alabama, United States.

A public school system located in southeast Montgomery County, Alabama. It will officially begin serving students on August 13, 2015. Initially, PRS will serve approximately 950 kindergarten through eighth grade students at the newly constructed Pike Road School. Pike Road is the fastest growing town in Alabama. As the system grows, additional schools will be added.

 

Hoover High School's large, dynamic campus serves a student population of approximately 2,900 students.  With personalized, differentiated learning, numerous academy programs and a low student-teacher ratio, the school operates as and has the feel of a much smaller campus.

 

Saint Bernard Prep is a co-ed Catholic boarding and day school for grades 7-12. For over a century St. Bernard has provided a quality education to generations of students. The success of the school operated by the Benedictine monks of St. Bernard Abbey is much more than the fine quality of classroom instruction.
