Social Media for Business Professionals: A Three Part Seminar Series

 

Instructed by award winning Matt Clower, this seminar series will give professionals a better understanding of how to use the fast changing world of social media to communicate important messages to the public. The seminar will take participants through the basics of launching and managing a social media platform, to more advance skills like developing a long term content strategy and using software to monitor multiple social platforms.

Part 1: The Basics of Social Media for Business.

Summary: This class will introduce basic concepts in social media, including defining the major platforms and general best practices. Concepts to be covered include:

  • What is social media
  • How can businesses use social media platforms
  • Choosing the right platform for your business
  • Industry best practices, what to do and what not to do.
  • Effective content strategies.

Part 2: Taking Your Social Media Strategy to the Next Level

Summary: Business professionals will learn how to effectively manage multiple social media platforms, how to use software to monitor social media conversations and take appropriate actions, how to develop a content plan and how to understand analytics to measure success. Concepts to be covered include:

  • Juggling multiple platforms: how to schedule posts and use your time wisely.
  • Using social media management tools.
  • Social listening: Understanding how your brand is being discussed online
  • Social Media as a customer service tool
  • Generating and understanding analytics reports

Part 3: Developing Social Media Content that is Primed to “Go Viral”

Summary: Effective social media starts with compelling content. Businesses that are already established on social media will learn how to increase their effectiveness by developing compelling social media content using easy to master tools and techniques. Concepts to be covered include:

  • Telling your brand’s story
  • Writing for blogs or social media
  • Improving your photos
  • Create effective videos
  • Viral success stories: businesses and organizations that have achieved social media success
  • Cautionary Tales: A look at missteps by businesses and how to avoid them.

Matt Clower, award-winning journalist, helps tell TROY’s story in the ever-changing world of social media. He helped craft the University’s first comprehensive social media policy and provides content for TROY’s many social media platforms. In addition to his work at TROY, Matt frequently lectures and consults on the social media, helping businesses and organizations craft successful social media strategy. He was named a 2015 Faculty Star by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education for his presentations on social media. Matt is a University Relations Coordinator at Troy University

Registration and Seminar Fees

Registration is accepted online or by calling the Continuing Education office at 334-983-0005.

Save money - Register and pay for all three seminars:  $99.
Register for one seminar at a time: $45 per seminar.
Materials and/or handouts are included in the seminar fee.

Cancellation Policy

Failure to attend the seminar does not constitute withdrawal. The Continuing Education Center must be notified directly. Withdrawal must be made by the registrant, in writing, at least three working days prior to the course’s beginning to receive a refund. Refunds will not be made available once the seminar series begins. Seminars offered through Continuing Education are subject to cancellation based on insufficient enrollment. In the event a course is cancelled, registrants will be notified and an appropriate refund will be made. Once the series begins, no refunds will be made.
