The Sorrell College of Business is scheduling an eCampus Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) cohort to begin in August, 2008. This cohort will include a maximum of 30 participants who have been screened for admission based upon their record of managerial experience. The EMBA requires a minimum of 5 years progressive managerial experience prior to admission. Applicants for the EMBA must follow the pre-application screening procedures provided below.

The EMBA Cohort

The cohort will be limited to participants entering the program as a group in August 2008 and, as indicated above, all participants must meet the progressive managerial experience requirement. This insures that all participants have comparable levels of experience, elevates the level of learning in the program, and facilitates interaction among peers. Students will not be allowed to enter the program after the initial term which begins in August 2008. Should a student not enroll in the designated class for one or more terms after entering the program, the student will not be allowed to enroll in any additional courses in this cohort and will be dropped from the program.

eCampus EMBA Pre-application Screening Procedures

Prior to a prospective student making application to the Troy University Graduate School it is necessary that the applicant provide documentation of academic credentials and work experience. This can be accomplished by completing the EMBA Experience Form and forwarding to troymba@troy.edu along with a detailed resume, unofficial transcripts and a letter of reference that provides documentation of your experience, your oral and written communication skills, and addresses your ability to do graduate work. When your file is complete, you will be notified of your pre-admission status. Upon notification of meeting the experience requirement, the applicant should then initiate the formal application procedures for admission to the Troy University Graduate School.

For graduate admission procedures go to http://www.troy.edu/ecampus/gradmissionrequirements.htm. The graduate application is contained at https://it.troy.edu/admit_grad/GradAppeCampus.htm. The pre-admission reference letter provided above will satisfy the graduate admission letter requirement.

Structure of the eCampus EMBA

The eCampus EMBA will utilize full-time Troy University faculty and will be administered jointly by eCampus staff and Sorrell College of Business staff. Courses will be offered in the normal eCampus term format with one course each term, except for the first term where two courses are required. Students accepted into the program will be required to attend two three-day intensive sessions on the Troy Campus. The first Troy Campus session will be during the second week of August 2008 (the exact dates to be determined) and will serve as an orientation to the program with the intensive delivery of the introductory course (EMBA 5501 Survey of Business Concepts). In the first term of participation students will enroll in the EMBA 5501 course and in EMBA 6674 Ethics in Business. The EMBA 5501 will be completed in the Troy Campus intensive session and EMBA 6674 will be completed in the normal term format. A projected schedule of course offerings is provided below.

Program Completion and Schedule

In order to complete the program on schedule participants are required to maintain continuous enrollment. Participants beginning in Term 1, 2008, can be expected to complete the program in December 2010. Note that all Sorrell College of Business graduate courses require a minimum of one proctored examination.
