Announcement!
Starting in 2011, Troy sites will no longer proctor Blackboard course exams. However, Troy sites will continue to proctor the following specialized exams: COMPASS tests, MFTs, MAPPs, Comprehensive Exams, Capstones (PA 6699, MBA 6611, MGT 6685, HRM 6698, FIN 4431, MKT 4469, MGT 4476, MGT 4479), Formative Exams (ACT 2292, ECO 2251, ECO 2252, IS 3300, LAW 2221, & QM 2241), and Pre-PHR exams. This change is mainly due to staffing and space limitations.
The new policy allows all graduate and undergraduate eTROY students the following options for most Blackboard course exams:
- ProctorU (webcam proctoring)
- Remote proctor device
- Third-party testing center
For more details about these proctoring methods and the courses they are available for, review the information below.

This information applies to Blackboard course exams. For info on specialized exams like MFTs, MAPPs, COMPASS, MAT, etc., please see "The Details" section below.
Proctored exams are exams taken under supervision. Many eTROY courses now require a proctored exam.
- Choose a proctor from a list of acceptable options.
- Submit your online proctor form to eTROY for approval.
- Make arrangements with your chosen proctor to take the exam.
Troy University has approved certain types of proctors. Click here to see the list of approved options.
COST: In most cases, you should expect to pay a fee for proctoring services. Fees average around $25, but can be higher or lower depending on the proctor you choose.
You must complete an online form: https://eTROY.troy.edu/forms/eProctorForm.aspx.The form is available beginning the day after the add/drop period in each term.
As soon as possible. eTROY needs at least 24 hours to process your proctor form, and often longer during midterm and final weeks. Your proctor will not receive your exam information until your form is approved.
If you choose a proctoring service or location, schedule an appointment with them well in advance. If you choose the remote proctor, give yourself plenty of time to install and test the software before your exam. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO MAKE PROCTORING ARRANGEMENTS.
How does my proctor receive the exam instructions and password?
ProctorU and the remote proctor device are both set up ahead of time with all necessary exam information. If you use a third-party testing center, exam information is emailed to your proctor by eTROY. These emails may be filtered out or misplaced, so please confirm that your proctor has received the exam information before you go to take your exam. If your proctor does not receive it, contact eTROY and we will be glad to resend.
