Institutional Review Board
Training
Researchers
ALL researchers must read the FAQ page and the Definitions page and complete the appropriate on-line training BEFORE they submit applications to the Institutional Review Board. Proof of completion should be emailed to the Chair of the Institutional Review Board.
The training will provide you with basic information on human subjects' rights, and will also guide you in preparing your informed consent document.
You need to select the training appropriate to your area of research.
- Health and Biological Sciences
Go to http://www.research.umn.edu/consent/ and select the "Health and Biological Sciences" module. You MUST complete module 1, 2, and 4 and then take module 5, "Test for Understanding." Module 3 is optional, but you are strongly advised to go through it if your research requires an informed consent document. When you take the "Test for Understanding," it will ask you where you want the results of the test sent. Have them sent to the Chair of the Institutional Review Board.
