Troy University officials have announced the appointment of Dr. Edith Smith as the associate dean of the Graduate School.
Dr. Smith has more than 25 years of higher education experience, most recently serving as interim dean for the University’s College of Health & Human Services (2006-2008). She has also been a professor in the Department of Kinesiology & Health Promotion.
Dr. Smith was selected as a Chancellor’s Fellow in 2002, and she received the Wallace D. Malone Distinguished Faculty Award in 2004.
In the role of associate dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Smith will oversee annual publications of the Graduate School including “The Graduate Catalog,” “Thesis Guidelines” and “Graduate Assistant Guidelines.” She will also oversee admission, transfer credit and comprehensive exam certifications.
Dr. Smith earned her doctorate in physiology in 1994 from Auburn University, where she also received a master’s of education in physical education. She earned her undergraduate degree from TROY.
