Homecoming 2008 – ‘Then, Now, Forever…TROJANS’
By Lauren Smith

Homecoming

“Then, Now, Forever…TROJANS” will be the theme for Troy University’s 2008 Homecoming celebration, scheduled for Nov. 8.

With this theme, the University seeks to connect the past with the present, according to Faith Ward, director of alumni affairs.

“There are so many new and exciting events planned for this week, and we encourage our alumni and friends to attend and enjoy this exciting time at TROY,” Ward said.

Along with the busy schedule of events, an online blog will be set up for alumni to share comments and memories of their time at TROY. On this blog, alumni have the chance to reminisce by finishing the sentence: “Remember when….” Alumni can also upload photos from their college days. The pictures will be in a slideshow format and will be showcased along with the story.

The blog will be accessible through the “Alumni and Friends” link on the TROY Web site (www.troy.edu) and will be posted throughout the football season.

Alumni will also have many chances to enjoy their return to campus, Ward said.

Alumni events will kick off on Friday, Nov. 7, with the annual reunion of World War II-era alumni.

Alumni of the Year Award recipients will be honored with a breakfast on Nov. 8 and also will be presented on the field during halftime festivities of the Homecoming game.

Game day festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with the annual homecoming parade in downtown Troy.

Tailgating begins at 11 a.m. on Tailgate Terrence. During this time, the Trojan Walk will be  featured on University Avenue and will include the TROY football team, cheerleaders and the “Sound of the South” Marching Band.

The pre-game show at 2 p.m. in Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium will include the homecoming court and representatives introductions. Kick off for the Homecoming game against Western Kentucky is set for 2:30 p.m.

Announcement of the 2008 Homecoming King and Queen will take place during halftime along with a halftime show from the “Sound of the South” Marching Band and alumni band.
