Troy University will celebrate its 100th year of football in grand style, including a trip to Gainesville, FL, to take on the defending national champion Florida Gators.
The 2009 schedule kicks off with a trip to Bowling Green, OH, to take on Bowling Green State University on Sept. 3, followed on Sept. 12 with the trip to “The Swamp” to tussle with the Gators.
In the first home game of the season on Sept. 19, the Trojans will welcome in-state rival UAB to Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium.
TROY will wrap up the first month of the season with its Sun Belt Conference opener against Arkansas State in Jonesboro, AR.
October will bring with it match ups against four conference foes, three of which will be home games for the Trojans. Middle Tennessee State will visit TROY on Tuesday, Oct. 6, in a game televised on ESPN2. Kickoff for the game is set for 7 p.m.
On Oct. 17, the Trojans will travel to Miami to take on Florida International before returning home for the final two weeks of the month to face the Mean Green of North Texas and Louisiana-Monroe.
The Trojans will open the month of November by making their second trip on the season to a city by the name of Bowling Green. This time, however, TROY travels to Bowling Green, KY, to take on Sun Belt Conference opponent Western Kentucky.
The Trojans will follow that on Nov. 14 with the season’s second trip to the state of Arkansas, this time to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks of the Southeastern Conference in Fayetteville.
TROY returns home on Nov. 21 for their final home game of the season against Florida Atlantic. TROY claimed the conference title in 2008, while sharing the title with FAU in 2007.
The Trojans will wrap up regular season play in Lafayette, LA, on Nov. 28 against the Rajun Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette.
