Head Football Coach Larry Blakeney was inducted to the 2009 class of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on May 30.
Blakeney, who has coached the Trojans since 1991, joined seven inductees honored during a banquet at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel.
Blakeney, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year, is the winningest football coach in Troy University history with a record of 145-73-1. He led the Trojans to the outright Sun Belt Conference Championship in 2008 and a share of the title in the two previous years.
Blakeney coached the Trojans to the school’s first-ever bowl win in 2006, a 41-17 victory over Rice in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
In 2000, Blakeney was the recipient of the Johnny Vaught Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the All-American Football Foundation.
