The 2011 Homecoming celebration will take place the weekend of Nov. 11-13 on the Troy Campus.
The Homecoming theme is “For the Love of TROY” in recognition of the University’s 125 years of service. Official 125th anniversary celebrations are planned for February.
“We are excited that this year’s Homecoming celebration will serve as a part of the larger recognition of the 125 years of service of TROY,” said Faith Ward, alumni affairs director. “We hope all TROY alumni will join us for Homecoming as we celebrate the history of our University and what it has meant to so many through the years.”
Special events will be held throughout the weekend, including the annual Homecoming Parade sponsored by the Pike County Chamber of Commerce in downtown Troy on Saturday, Nov. 12 and the Homecoming football game against Sun Belt Conference opponent North Texas. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Pre-game festivities will begin at 2 p.m. and include recognition of the Homecoming Court and a performance by the “Sound of the South.”
At halftime, the Homecoming queen will be announced and the University will recognize Alumni of the Year and Honorary Alumnus of the Year. Halftime will also feature performances by the “Sound of the South” and the Alumni Band.
Nominations are now being sought for Alumni and Honorary Alumnus of the Year, and may be made online at Alumni page of the TROY website, www.troy.edu.
