Academics continue to change the face of Troy University and deepen opportunities for students. Responding to an ever-
changing job market, 22 new programs have been added to course catalogs over the last two years.
Taking the lead in new programs, the College of Arts and Sciences in January will kick off the Bachelor of Science in Physics,
the first of five new programs at the University set to begin in 2014. A Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences, a Master of
Social Science, a Master of Social Work and a Master of Arts in History are slated to begin in August 2014.
“Troy University has a long history of providing graduate education, and these new degree programs significantly expand our
graduate degrees to meet the educational needs of our students,” said Dr. Jim Rinehart, Dean of Arts and Sciences.
The Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences is part of a new partnership with the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine
and is designed to prepare students for careers in professional health care.
With the beginning Fall 2013, eight new programs were inaugurated, including a Master of Business Administration in
International Business Administration and a graduate certificate in biomedical sciences.
A Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, a Bachelor of Arts or Science in Economics, and a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration, Economics all launched as did a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Global Business. A
Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management also saw
their first students.
The newest programs followed closely on the heels of the birth of nine programs in 2012. Undergraduate degrees in
anthropology and liberal studies joined a new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance degree, and a pre-baccalaureate certificate in
cybersecurity. The Graduate School added an Education Specialist in Teacher Leader degree, a Master of Accountancy degree,
a Master of Science in Adult Education, a Master of Science in Strategic Communication degree and a graduate certificate in
