Troy University Marketing Professor Dr. Thomas A. Dukes will spend two weeks in Russia lecturing on international marketing and advertising practices as a part of the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program.
Dukes, a professor in the Sorrell College of Business on the University’s Montgomery Campus, will speak to graduate students and faculty members at the Taganrog Management and Economics Institute in Taganrog, Russia, April 6-20. In addition, Dr. Dukes will consult with administrators on faculty development issues.
The Fulbright Senior Specialists Program, created in 2000 to complement the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, provides short-term academic opportunities from two to six weeks in length to prominent U.S. faculty and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at post secondary, academic institutions around the world. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement.
Dr. Dukes said he was excited about the opportunity to lecture to students and faculty in Russia.
“This is something that I had always wanted to do, but just had never found the time before,” Dr. Dukes said.
After a peer-review process, Dr. Dukes was placed on the program’s registry of senior specialists.
“After being selected for the registry, you must wait until a request is made from an institution that program officials feel falls into your area of expertise,” he said. “I am very pleased to have been selected and I am excited about this opportunity. I have had the opportunity to travel to China, Greece, Iceland, Slovakia, Austria, Britain and several other areas of the world, but this will be my first trip to Russia. I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to spend time with students and faculty there.”
