Founding Phenix City Campus administrator Dr. Curtis Pitts dies
Dr. Curtis Pitts, the founding administrator of the Phenix City Campus who oversaw more than 30 years of successful growth and service to students in the Chattahoochee Valley, passed away on March 31 in a Charlotte, NC hospital.
Dr. Pitts had been recovering from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in May of last year.
“Dr. Pitts was the driving force at our Phenix City Campus. His vision was to provide the greater Phenix City-Columbus area with quality higher education programs, and his dedication has left a lasting impact on the lives of many students and within the community,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor.
Dr. Pitts earned a bachelor’s degree in business from TROY in 1976, an M.B.A. from Georgia State University in 1978 and a doctorate in education administration and leadership from Auburn University in 1982.
