2011 football schedule features nationally televised tilt with FIU

The top two teams in the Sun Belt Conference will square off in a nationally televised showdown in Miami when the five-time league champion Troy Trojans face the 2010 co-champion FIU Panthers on Oct. 25.

That game will be televised on ESPN2 with a 7 p.m. (CT) kickoff.

The Trojans kick off the season with consecutive non-conference road games at Clemson and Arkansas, and will open the home schedule up on Sept. 24 against Sun Belt rival Middle Tennessee in the “Battle for the Palladium.”

In-state rival UAB will visit Veterans Memorial Stadium on Oct. 1.October’s schedule also includes a trip to play UL Lafayette on Oct. 8, as well as a home game with Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 15.

The Trojans will begin November with a trip to Annapolis to face Navy on Nov. 5. The game is the first of a home-and-home series with the Midshipmen, who will play in Troy in November of 2012.

The November schedule continues with consecutive home games against conference opponents North Texas and Florida Atlantic on Nov. 12 and 19 respectively. The Trojans will close out the season with road games at Western Kentucky and Arkansas State.

With the exception of the FIU game, kickoff times and television appearances have not yet been set.
