Construction zone: Troy Campus

  

Several construction projects are currently under way on the Troy Campus. The brief description of those projects, their status and projected completion dates are listed below.

• Trojan Arena –  Ground was broken for the new $31 million facility in March. The multi-purpose arena will seat 5,200 for basketball and as many as 5,600 for commencements, convocations, large meetings, concerts and other special events. Site work for the facility has been completed. The facility itself is expected to be completed by January 2012.

• Tailgate Terrace – This project includes improvements to the entrance from George Wallace Drive onto campus, as well as landscaping, irrigation and lighting improvements to the University’s main tailgating area. The project was expected to be complete by late July.

• Dining Facility – Ground was broken for a new dining facility in May. The two-story structure, which will include numerous dining options, will be able to serve 1,000 students at any one time. Site work for the facility is in progress with an expected completion date of September 2011.

• Fraternity Village – A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Fraternity Village is scheduled for Sept. 4. The development includes seven 8,517 square-feet two-story houses in a traditional neighborhood-styled development, which were to be completed by the start of the fall 2010 semester.

• Bibb Graves Hall, CIBED,Confucius Institute – The major renovation project that will add approximately 40,000 square feet to the building will include additional classroom space, updated technology, an auditorium, computer labs and additional office space, as well as offices for the Center for International Business and Economic Development and the Confucius Institute. The project is on schedule with a project completion date of August 2011.

• Mitchell Hall – Located on the TROY’s Sorority Hill, Mitchell Hall is being renovated to house the University’s ROTC program. The project is expected to be completed in August.

• Parklane, eCampus – The former shopping center facility is currently home to the University’s Information Technology Department and will also house offices for the University’s eCampus. Completion date for the project is expected to be December 2010. CGI Group, Inc., will also be located in the former shopping center.
