One group of alumni is planning a special Homecoming celebration this year in honor of a longtime Troy University icon.
Alumni of the University’s track program will celebrate the legacy of John H. “Doc” Anderson with a special reunion and banquet on Nov. 12.
Anderson served as head track coach and athletic trainer from 1967-1979. During his tenure, the TROY track team produced numerous team and individual championships in the Gulf South Conference and nearly 30 All Americas at either N.A.I.A. or NCAA Division II level.
He currently serves as director of the athletic training program. A TROY alumnus himself, Anderson received his master’s degree in physical education in 1968.
“Doc” Reunion activities will begin at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12 with a “Tailgate at the Track.” A reception followed by a banquet will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Hawkins Hall on the Troy Campus.
