TSU Gospel Choir sets winter concert for Feb. 18
The Troy State University Gospel Choir has scheduled a special winter concert for Sunday, Feb. 18. The concert, which is a featured part of TSU's Black History Month activities, is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater. It is open to the public and is free of charge.
The concert will feature African-American spirituals and a wide variety of gospel music, said Stephen Langford, director of the TSU Gospel Choir. The special concert will provide a good opportunity for the Gospel Choir, which is one of the university's newest performance groups, to showcase its development, said Dr. Terre Johnson, director of choral activities for TSU's John M. Long School of Music.
"The Gospel Choir has become one of our premier ensembles and it has only been a part of the school of music for a few years," Johnson said. "The choir has worked very hard and is ready to stand on its own. This concert will be a natural next step for the group." For more information, contact the John M. Long School of Music at (334) 670-3322.
