Knight to speak at TSU's Black History Month Convocation
   Troy State University will culminate its Black History Month activities when Alabama House of Representative member John Knight serves as keynote speaker at a special convocation on Monday, Feb. 19.
   The Black History Month Convocation, which is sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the University Activities Council, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in the Adams Center Theater.
   "We are privileged to have the opportunity to bring Rep. Knight to campus," Jermaine Jackson, convocation coordinator, said. "The convocation will conclude the Black History Month activities that have been going on in the TSU community throughout the month of February."
   "We look forward to a meaningful program and hope the TSU community takes advantage of it," Jackson said.
   First elected to the Alabama House in 1993, Knight is chair of the Ways and Means General Fund committee and a member of the Montgomery County Legislation committee.
   Knight serves as assistant vice president of planning and institutional advancement for Alabama State University. He received his bachelor's degree with honors in business administration from Alabama State University.
   He serves as chairman of the board of directors for the Kershaw YMCA and the Montgomery Housing Authority. He is chairman of the Montgomery County Democratic Conference and is a member of the Montgomery County Executive Committee, the Alabama Democratic Party Executive Committee and has served as the president of the Montgomery County Young Democrats.
