of top accounting firm to speak at Troy State University
March 7 |
A
leading member of one of the Big Five public accounting firms
will speak at Troy State University on Wednesday, March 7. Larry
D. Bailey, a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Washington,
D.C., will be the featured speaker at the Sorrell College of
Business Chair of Free Enterprise Distinguished Lecturers series.
The lecture is set for 10 a.m. in the Adams Center Theatre and
is open to the public.
The Distinguished Lecturers series is designed to expose TSU
business students to outstanding business leaders, said Dr. Tom Ratcliffe, Dean
of the Sorrell College of Business. Past speakers include June Collier Fletcher,
former CEO of National Apparel; Patricia Barnes, founder and vice president of
Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls; and Steve McMillan, CEO of Sara Lee.
Bailey, a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers since 1991,
serves as partner-in-charge of the Africa Desk for the U.S. firm. He is also
responsible for marketing and client relations for the firm on the national and
international levels and has served on the company’s firmwide diversity
committee.
PricewaterhouseCoopers, which employs 150,000 people and maintains
offices in 150 countries, had revenues of $21.5 billion in 2000. Bailey is a
past recipient of the National Association of Black Accountants National Achievement
Award and is a member of the Black Entertainment Sports Lawyer Association Hall
of Fame. He is a former winner of the Joseph Wharton Award.
Bailey is a member of the advisory board of the United Negro
College Fund and serves on the boards of directors of the Urban Family Institute
and Children’s Hospital. He is a former campaign chairman for the United
Way of Washington, D.C. He received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois
University and earned a master’s of business administration degree from
the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. |
