The Small Business Development Center at Troy State University and the Ozark Technology Center will sponsor a program on Tuesday, Jan. 30 that should be of interest to anyone considering doing business via the Internet.
The program will be conducted in two sessions. The morning session, "Getting Started on the Internet -- Developing a Web Presence," will begin at 9 a.m. and the afternoon session, "Marketing on the Internet -- What Will the Future Bring?," will start at 1 p.m. The program will be held in Ozark at the Aviation Branch of Wallace Community College. Professional staff members from the Atlanta Electronic Commerce Resource Center will conduct both sessions.
The cost of the program is $35 (this includes both sessions) and the registration deadline is Thursday, Jan. 25. For more information or to register please call Judy Callin at 334-670-3771 or e-mail jcallin@trojan.troyst.edu.
The morning session will cover the following topics: The growth in Internet activity for both businesses and consumers. Costs that affect the start-up and maintenance of a Web site. Business functions that can be accomplished more efficiently on the Internet, such as customer service and support, order processing, and resource procurement as part of routine business operations. The different types of communication such as e-mail and Intranets. Collaborative tools -- how they work and how they are used. How to develop a Web presence including discussions on strategy, locating a Web site, and getting your customer to the site.
The afternoon session will cover these topics: The marketing aspects of using the Web -- making the sale by developing a need, taking the order, getting paid in a secure manner, and delivering the goods. Real-world applications of companies that have placed significant effort in using the Web to sell and provide information to their customers. Future issues that will affect the Internet and what a company must consider.
