Kelly Hawkins crowned Miss TSU 2001
   Kelly Hawkins of Troy has been named the winner of the 2001 Miss Troy State University pageant. Hawkins, a sophomore majoring in English, was crowned Miss TSU 2001 during ceremonies Feb. 10 in the Claudia Crosby Theater.
   As Miss TSU, Hawkins will serve the university as an ambassador and will represent TSU at the Miss Alabama pageant in June. She is the recipient of a one-year, full-tuition scholarship and other gifts from pageant sponsors and Troy-area merchants.
   For her talent, Hawkins performed classical ballet en pointe to a selection from the musical "Rodeo." She is a member of College Republicans, Freshman Forum, Habitat for Humanity and Phi Mu women's fraternity. In addition to majoring in English, she has a minor in psychology. She was third runner-up in the Miss TSU 2000 pageant.
   Other pageant finalists were: First runner-up, Christi Bedingfield of Montgomery; Second runner-up, Andrea Domizio of Troy; Third runner-up, Melissa McCord of Andalusia; Fourth runner-up, Whitley Porter of Hernando, Miss.
   Bedingfield captured the talent competition with her performance of the operatic selection "O Mio Babbino Caro." Domizio won the swimsuit competition.
   This year marked the 30th year of the Miss TSU pageant.
