plans commencement exercises for May 10

Lt.
Gen. Donald A. Lamontagne, commander of Air University at Maxwell
Air Force Base, is scheduled to deliver the commencement address
at Troy State University’s spring commencement Friday,
May 10.
The ceremony is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. in Sartain Hall
on the TSU campus with 470 students scheduled to receive diplomas, according
to Tamara Jones, acting registrar. She said 366 bachelor’s degrees will
be awarded, along with 75 master’s degrees and 29 associate’s degrees.
"We are honored to have Lt. Gen. Lamontagne deliver this commencement
address at Troy State University," Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, said. "His
record of excellent service to our nation should provide a great deal of inspiration
to the members of this graduating class."
Lamontagne also serves as director of education, Air Education
and Training Command, with headquarters at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. A
native of Stanford, Maine, Lamontagne is a 1969 graduate of The Catholic University
of America in Washington, D.C. He entered military service through the Reserve
Officer Training Corps program. He also earned a master’s degree in aeronautical
science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Bunnell, Fla. His USAF training
includes Squadron Officer School and Air Command and Staff College, both at Maxwell
AFB.
In 1986 he commanded the 492nd Tactical Fighter Squadron which
won the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Commander in Chief’s Trophy. Gen. Lamontagne
is a command pilot with more than 3,600 hours of flying time, including 300 combat
hours. He has served in various staff positions at major commands and the Joint
Staff.
