Bonnie Money named TSU’s outstanding employee for April

Longtime Troy State University staff member Bonnie Money is the April winner of the Vergil Parks McKinley Outstanding Employee Award.
Money, who is a graphics technician in the Office of Creative Services, was presented the award during a ceremony April 24 in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on the TSU campus. Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, presented the award.
The McKinley Award, the highest honor the university gives to a non-faculty staff member, is presented monthly to an employee who has demonstrated outstanding attitude, innovation and work ethic. The award was created by former Texaco CEO John McKinley in honor of his father, Vergil Parks McKinley, who was a TSU professor in the early 20th century and was key to the development of the university’s athletics program. Award winners receive an engraved clock and a $300 stipend.
A member of the TSU staff for 21 years, Money is dependable and brings a positive attitude to the workplace, said Joe Johnson, director of Creative Services.
“Bonnie is dedicated and a hard worker,” he said. “She is willing to accomplish any assigned task. It was a pleasure to be able to nominate her for this award – she is a very deserving recipient.”
A resident and native of Troy, Money is an active part of the university community, attending sporting events and other campus activities. She said she was both thankful and shocked to be chosen for the McKinley Award.
“I enjoy my work and am very honored to receive this award,” she said. “I know there are many deserving people.”
