Southeastern Public Radio Network spring fund-raiser set for April 19-26
Public radio fans will have a chance to show their support of Southeastern Public Radio, which is based at Troy State University, when it holds its annual spring fund-raiser April 19-26.
"We hold two fund-raisers—we call them friend-raisers—each year," James Clower, director of radio and television at TSU, said. "One is in the fall and the other is in the spring."
The proceeds from the "friend-raisers" help pay the cost of National Public Radio and International Public Radio programs like "Morning Edition," "All Things Considered," "A Prairie Home Companion" and "Car Talk," said Clower. Southeastern Public Radio aims to raise $40,000 this drive, he said.
The fund-raiser also aids in gaining new listeners and is a time for Southeastern Public Radio to show its appreciation for devoted listeners, Clower said.
"It is a time to welcome new listeners who have moved into the area and thank loyal supporters," he said. "Callers have told us they enjoy the guests and the fun."
Premiums include bumper stickers, key chain safety whistles, tire gauges and t-shirts.
Businesses and individuals giving at a higher level may receive day or week sponsorships.
Supporters can make a donation by calling 1-800-800-6616 or 334-670-3268 or by writing to Southeastern Public Radio, Troy State University, Troy, Ala. 36082.
Southeastern Public Radio consists of WTSU 89.9 FM Troy/Montgomery, WRWA 88.7 FM Dothan and WTJB 91.7 Columbus/Phenix City.
