   Student death reported at TSU
A Troy State University student was found dead in his room on campus Sunday morning, university officials said, but no foul play is suspected.
The student, Dennis Lee Bowden, 20, a junior from Opp majoring in computer science, was found in his room in Alumni Hall by campus police around 7:15 a.m. Initial reports indicate that the student was on the telephone with friends, who became concerned after the telephone connection was disconnected. The friends called the Troy Police Department, who in turn notified campus police.
Campus police found Bowden at his desk in front of his computer. Foul play is not indicated, but the death is under investigation, according to Pike County Coroner Jerry Williams. Bowden’s family has been notified.
Although the residence halls were officially closed for holiday break, Bowden had received permission to remain in Alumni Hall because he held a part-time job on campus and was scheduled to work several days over the break.
"We are saddened by the loss of Lee," John Schmidt, Vice President for Student Affairs, said. "At this time our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
