Sodexho
president and chief executive officer Michel Landel will speak
at Troy State University on Thursday, Feb. 28 at a convocation
of the university’s Sorrell College of Business.
The lecture is set for 10 a.m. in the Adams Center Theatre
for the Performing Arts on the TSU campus. The event is open to the public and
is free of charge.
The Sorrell College of Business convocation is designed to
expose TSU students to a broad range of outstanding business leaders, said Dr.
Tom Ratcliffe, Dean. Past speakers include Steve McMillan, CEO of Sara Lee; Gary
Youngblood, president of Alagasco; and Patricia Barnes, founder of Sister Schubert’s
Homemade Rolls.
As president and CEO of Sodexho, Landel heads the leading provider
of food and facilities management in the United States and Canada. Sodexho, which
had sales of $4.7 billion in 2000, employs more than 130,000 people and manages
another 60,000 client-employees. The company has 5,000 clients in the United
States and Canada, including corporations, health care facilities and institutions
of higher education.
Sodexho, the North American subsidiary of Sodexho Alliance,
provides food service and facilities management for Troy State University.
Landel has served as Sodexho president and CEO since 1999.
He joined Sodexho Alliance in 1984 as chief operating manager for East Africa,
Libya and Algeria and later served as president of the company’s remote
site operations in Africa. Before being named to his current position, Landel
served as president of Sodexho’s North American operations and as president
of the company’s Corporate Services Division.
Landel is a former recipient of the prestigious Golden Chain
Award, presented in 1997 by the Multi-Unit Food Service Operators, and the Ivy
