Aldridge appointed Vice President of University College at TSU
Troy State University administrator Dr. Susan C. Aldridge has been named Vice President of University College, the administrative division that oversees TSU programs outside of Alabama.
A member of the TSU staff since 1996, Dr. Aldridge previously served as director of Western Region and International Programs for University College. She replaces Dr. Rodney Cox, who retired last December.
Headquartered on the TSU campus, University College offers degree programs at 51 sites – predominantly military bases -- in 14 U.S. states and nine countries. University College also administers the university’s Distance Learning Center. The division allows TSU to reach students worldwide, said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor.
“Serving the educational needs of the men and women of the U.S. military and reaching out to the international community are key components of Troy State University’s mission,” Dr. Hawkins said. “University College will be well served by Dr. Aldridge’s extensive experience in administration, management and the international arena. We look forward to her leadership in this vital area.”
A native of Madison, Wis., Dr. Aldridge received a bachelor’s degree from Colorado Women’s College and earned a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Colorado. She is a former director of Aging Services for the Denver Metropolitan Area and previously taught at the National University of Singapore. She has been honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Social Security Administration for health care research and is a two-time recipient of the Governor’s Distinguished Service Award in Colorado.
Dr. Aldridge said she is “very excited” about leading University College.
“This position poses incredible challenges and real opportunities,” she said. “I inherit a tremendous legacy that will serve me well in terms of expanding our programs and markets.” TSU is known internationally for its innovation and initiative in developing quality programs, Dr. Aldridge said.
“There is a tremendous entrepreneurial spirit at Troy State,” she said. “We have a great opportunity to meet the needs of people around the world and capitalize on the variety of educational programs that TSU provides.”
