Troy State University students win awards at ADDY Awards

Troy State University students Justin Cox of Greensboro, N.C. and Leigh Ann Hillibrand of Dothan have received the 2002 Montgomery Advertising Federation's (MAF) Student Achievement Awards presented at the 42nd Annual ADDY Awards ceremony.
The ceremony was held at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Friday, Feb. 22. Pat Simpson of HGTV and Kris Kendrick, principal of LWT/KBK New Media and president of the MAF, presented the award.
"This is groundbreaking for TSU because it has been a strategic goal of ours to gain student recognition from professionals in the business industry," Jerry Johnson, Chair of the Department of Art and Design, said. "It is now beginning to happen."
The ADDY Awards Competition is conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation. It is the advertising industry's largest national competition for creative excellence.
This is the first year the MAF added Student Achievement Awards. Any local college or university student majoring in graphic arts, marketing, web design or advertising-related field may enter the competition.
The award was divided into two categories - electronic and print media. Cox, a senior majoring in computer graphics, received the award for electronic, while Hillibrand, a sophomore majoring in computer graphics, received the award for print.
