| 'Alabama
State-Troy State Joint Exhibit' set for March 4-April 18
at TSU |
The
diverse work of the art faculty of Alabama State University is
currently on display for a six-week show at Troy State University
as part of a unique cooperative exhibit between the two universities.
The show, "Alabama State-Troy State Joint Exhibit," opened
in TSU's Malone Gallery of Art on March 4 and will continue through April 18.
The show is part of the gallery's yearlong art series. A reception for the Alabama
State faculty is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 in the Malone Gallery.
The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
The show features the drawings, paintings, pottery and sculpture
of the Visual and Theatre Arts faculty at Alabama State University: Steven Cappelli,
Jackie Webber, Dr. William Colvin, Dr. Christopher Greenman and Cleve Webber.
Simultaneously, the artwork of the Art and Design faculty at TSU is on display
at the Warren Britt Gallery at Alabama State University.
"Joint Exhibit" is the first time TSU's art faculty has exchanged
work with another university for a cooperative exhibit, said Pam Allen, director
of the Malone Gallery.
"We have had contact with the Alabama State art faculty for
a long time," she said. "That contact evolved into an idea to put together an
exchange exhibit."
Joint Exhibit offers unique opportunities for the two universities,
Allen said.
"The exhibit promotes good will between Alabama State and TSU," she
said, "provides additional exposure for our work and allows us to see what's
going on at other universities.
"We invite everyone to meet the Alabama State faculty on March
12 and enjoy this unique show."
TSU art faculty participating in the exhibit at the Warren
Britt Gallery at Alabama State are Pam Allen, Bob Joslin, Jerry Johnson, Sergei
Shillabeer, Larry Percy, Duane Paxson, Ed Noriega and artist-in-residence Nall
Hollis.
The Malone Gallery is open 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. Admission is free. Call (334) 670-3391 for more information
