Pianist Kevin Chance to perform at TSU March 12
   
   Rising concert pianist Kevin T. Chance will give a solo recital at Troy State University on Tuesday, March 12.
   Set to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on the TSU campus, the performance is free of charge and open to the public. The event is sponsored by the John M. Long School of Music. Call (334) 670-3322 for more information.
   Chance will perform "Sonata in A-flat Major" by Ludwig van Beethoven and "Italian Concerto" and "Prelude and Fugue: Book I" by Johann Sebastian Bach. The recital program will also feature works by Franz Liszt and Xavier Montsalvatge.
   A featured performer in concerts and competitions across the Southeast, Chance has recently performed as a soloist with the Transylvania Symphony Orchestra and the Magic City Orchestra and has concerts planned for Georgia, Louisiana and New York later this year. He was named an outstanding chamber musician at the 2000 Aspen Summer Music Festival and participated in the festival's "Adventures in Music" recital series. His work is featured on the Living Artists Recordings 1999 album, "Places Not Remote."
   A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, Chance is currently pursuing a master's degree in piano performance from Louisiana State University. He has studied with several top pianists, including Earl Wild, Edna Lovett Brown and Thomas Schumacher. Chance is a member of the State Street Piano Trio and is an instructor at the LSU Music Academy.
