| TSU Small Business Development Center to offer free counseling in Elba |
| The
Troy State University Small Business Development Center will
begin providing free business counseling through the Elba Chamber
of Commerce, according to Sandra Lucas, senior consultant with
the SBDC. The first counseling session is scheduled for April 11 from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the chamber offices at 325 Yelverton St. "We’ve had a lot of requests for counseling from people in the Elba area who are coming to TSU to meet with our resource people," Lucas said. "We want to provide convenient access to our services and are delighted to be working with the Elba Chamber of Commerce." Lucas said the SBDC, which offers business counseling in 10 southeast Alabama counties, handles inquiries and gives advice on a range of topics, including business start-up, business planning, operations, management, marketing and record keeping. "We offer these services one-to-one and free of charge," Lucas said. "We also help people who are interested in the Small Business Administration loan program."
