TSU Chamber Winds schedules campus concert for March 19
The TSU Chamber Winds – Troy State University’s premier orchestral ensemble – will perform a concert of contemporary and popular music Tuesday, March 19 on the TSU campus.
The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater. The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
The TSU Chamber Winds is a 38-piece percussion and woodwind ensemble composed of the best musicians in the TSU Band program, said Ralph Ford, director of bands and principal conductor of the TSU Chamber Winds. The group is designed to give its members a “small ensemble experience,” Ford said. Dr. Jim Zingara, assistant professor of music, is associate conductor of the ensemble.
The concert will feature a program of popular and contemporary music. Selections include Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” the “Hounds of Spring” by Alfred Reed, “Old Wine in New Bottles” by British composer Gordon Jacob and works by contemporary composer Stephen Mellilo.
