State University System administrative appointments announced |
Dr.
Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy State University, has announced
two major administrative appointments.
Dr. Ed Roach was named Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic
and Student Affairs. Dr. Roach has served as Interim Director of the Alabama
Articulation Program since March. In this new role, Dr. Roach assumes administrative
duties for the Troy State University System previously held by Dr. Michael Malone,
who was recently appointed Executive Director of the Alabama Commission on Higher
Education.
Dr. Roach has served as President of the University of West
Alabama, where he also served four years as Provost. Dr. Roach also served as
President of West Texas State University.
"Dr. Roach’s wide-ranging experience in the highest levels
of university administration will be a great asset to Troy State University," Chancellor
Hawkins said.
In a related move, Dr. Hawkins announced the appointment of
Dr. Barbara Alford as interim President of Troy State University Dothan.
Dr. Alford, currently executive vice president at Dothan, succeeds
Dr. Malone, who had served as Troy State University Dothan President since 1996.
Chancellor Hawkins made the announcement to the Dothan faculty
and staff on Thursday via teleconference.
"Dr. Alford is a proven, capable leader and has worked well
with the Troy State University System and the Dothan community," Dr. Hawkins
said. "I look forward to her service in this position."
Dr. Alford has served at TSUD since 1993, beginning as vice
president for special programs and serving as vice president for student affairs
from 1995-97. Dr. Alford worked at George C. Wallace State Community College
in Dothan from 1984-93, rising to the post of administrative dean.
The TSU Chancellor also praised Dr. Malone for his service
to Troy State University
"We wish Dr. Malone well and know that his inspired leadership
holds great promise for the Alabama Commission on Higher Education," he said. "He
will be an asset for all of Alabama higher education just as he has been for
Troy State University."
