TSU’s
Theatre Obscura to give participants an opportunity to create
art
The Department of Art and Design at Troy State University will
host a campus-wide event on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. entitled "Theatre Obscura," according
to Ed Noriega, Professor of Art and Design.
Noriega said the public is invited to attend this event, which
is designed to showcase a variety of performance artists, media and art installations.
"The concept of Theatre Obscura is to promote ‘high theatre/art’ and
to encourage all who participate—including attendees—to be as creative
as they can, Noriega said. "Theatre Obscura is non-objective art in the making.
It is not about art that hangs on walls, it is about art that is not safe."
Theatre Obscura will be held in the Malone Gallery and courtyard
and performances will be presented throughout the evening in Malone Hall. Performances
will include NewSchool music by DJ Spank-E, wearable art, Jazz confusion and
video installations.
Admission to Theatre Obscura is free to students with TSU I.D.
and $2 for the general public. Space is limited to 100 participants.
"Attendees are invited to participate in any fashion," Noriega
said. "We openly solicit performances for this event--you don’t have to
be an artist to make art!"
