TSU to celebrate homecoming Oct. 25-26
Homecoming activities at Troy State University are scheduled for Oct. 25-26 and will center around this year’s theme of "The Sun Never Sets on TSU," according to Faith Ward, Director of Alumni Affairs.
"The committee chose this theme because of our worldwide presence, as we operate sights in 14 U.S. states and seven foreign countries," Ward said. "We want our alumni from all over the world to visit Troy as the main campus of the Troy State University System."
The Trojans football team is scheduled to begin play with Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. The homecoming queen and members of her court will be crowned in pre-game ceremonies beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Alumni of the year and honorary alumnus of the year will be recognized in a special halftime presentation. Members of "The Sound of the South" Alumni Band will also perform with "The Sound of the South" Marching Band during its halftime show.
Other game-day activities will spread the Trojan spirit beyond the TSU campus into the community of Troy. They include the homecoming parade in downtown Troy at 10 a.m., tailgating on the TSU campus starting at 11 a.m., and the Trojan Walk across campus at 11:50 a.m. There will also be a breakfast honoring the Alumni of the Year at 8:30 a.m. in the Adams Center.
The Student Government Association has organized a weeklong schedule of events Oct. 21-25 for students to enjoy prior to Saturday’s game. Highlights include a dance competition, banner contest, chariot racing, and Skit Night.
For additional information concerning the homecoming activities of TSU, contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at 334-670-3318.
