   TSU to start Rotaract chapter
Students at Troy State University will have the opportunity to join a new service organization, as several members of the TSU faculty are looking to sponsor a Rotaract Club at TSU.
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are usually community-based or university-based and are sponsored by a local Rotary Club. Carol Franks, Associate Professor of Music and current President of the Troy Rotary Club, and Ernest Enchelmayer, Assistant Professor of English, are organizing the TSU Chapter of Rotaract.
An informational meeting for all interested students is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Trojan Center 212 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., according to Enchelmayer.
"We’ll provide an overview of Rotary International and Rotaract at this meeting and invite TSU students to charter a chapter," Enchelmayer said. "The club will be open to any full-time student age 18 to 30 in good academic standing."
Dr. Benjamin Ji, a local dentist and member of the Troy Rotary Club, is also serving on the committee organizing the chapter.
Through the Rotaract program, young adults not only augment their knowledge and skills, but they also address the physical and social needs of their communities while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service, according to information provided by Rotary International.
